PURPOSE / PROPÓSITO
Our local Chapter strives to...
- Honor those who attain excellence in the study of the Spanish language and in the study of the literature and culture of Spanish-speaking peoples;
- Honor those who have made the Hispanic contributions to the modern world better known in the English-speaking world;
- Encourage college and university students to acquire a greater interest and a deeper understanding of Hispanic culture;
- Foster friendly relations and mutual respect between the nations of Hispanic speech and those of English speech;
- Serve its membership in ways which will contribute to the attainment of the goals and ideals of the society.
Membership in Sigma Delta Pi...
- Signifies outstanding achievement and distinguishes students of Spanish in colleges and universities;
- Qualifies you to earn valuable scholarships and recognition;
- Strengthens one's application for a position in any professional field.
Requirements to join:
- At least two Spanish classes taken/concurrent at the 300 level (one of which must be a civilization or literature class);
- A 3.0 GPA in Spanish;
- A 2.75 Cumulative GPA;
- One time fee of $45.00 which includes membership certificate and pin.
