PURPOSE / PROPÓSITO

Our local Chapter strives to...

Honor those who attain excellence in the study of the Spanish language and in the study of the literature and culture of Spanish-speaking peoples;
Honor those who have made the Hispanic contributions to the modern world better known in the English-speaking world;
Encourage college and university students to acquire a greater interest and a deeper understanding of Hispanic culture;
Foster friendly relations and mutual respect between the nations of Hispanic speech and those of English speech;
Serve its membership in ways which will contribute to the attainment of the goals and ideals of the society.

Membership in Sigma Delta Pi...

Signifies outstanding achievement and distinguishes students of Spanish in colleges and universities;
Qualifies you to earn valuable scholarships and recognition;
Strengthens one's application for a position in any professional field.

Requirements to join:

At least two Spanish classes taken/concurrent at the 300 level (one of which must be a civilization or literature class);
A 3.0 GPA in Spanish;
A 2.75 Cumulative GPA;
One time fee of $45.00 which includes membership certificate and pin.
